Norooz in Pasadena is a secular celebration of the Persian New Year and the beginning of spring, and it has become an anticipated annual tradition in the San Gabriel Valley.

For the eighth year in a row, cared by Norooz in Pasadena’s founder Dr. Nazee Rofagha, DC (who maintains a Family Chiropractic Wellness Center in the city), Pasadena will come together to celebrate and promote Iranian arts and its rich culture along with the non-Iranian community. Norooz in Pasadena 2014 will take place this Thursday, March 13, at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, located at 150 N. Madison Avenue, between 5:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

This year’s festivities will feature live entertainment, including a traditional Iranian percussion performance by Erfan Nazemzadeh with Flamenco guitarist Amir Mafakher. The evening highlights will also include a dance performance by Djanbazian Dance Academy and an art exhibit by Iranian Visual Artists. Also sharing the beauty and artistic prowess of the Iranian culture will be Aladdin Rugs and Fine Art Gallery, which will display an assortment of Persian rugs and antiques. Eden Garden will be catering an assortment of appetizers while the Traditional Persian Tea House will serve tea and sweets.

The Norooz in Pasadena 2014's Master of Ceremonies will be Nat Nehdar, Chair of the Pasadena Human Relations Commission, with Dr. Ezat Parnia, President of Pacific Oaks College, serving as the Keynote Speaker.

This year’s Guest of Honor will be Pasadena’s Mayor Bill Bogaard, who received the 2013 Global Citizen Award and is recognized as a tireless promoter of community diversity.
