Nordstrom’s rack has relocated to a new location in Culver City. The grand opening was October 10th 2013. The old location was in The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center on 6081 Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045. The new location is now in the Westfield Mall in Culver City at 6000 Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230.
The new store is brighter and more modern looking. It has two entrances, one from the 2nd floor of the interior of the mall and one from the front of the mall next to the main mall entrance, adjacent to the right of JC Penny and to the left of Macy’s. Escalators escort you up from the parking lot entrance.
Good points and bad points:
The store has most of the same merchandise you found at the old location as well as some new items selected for fall and winter. If you are a scarf buff, this is the place. They have a very large selection of scarves here; thrice hold the size at DSW stores nearby.
The men’s section seems larger and it has more of an array of casual wear for fall and winter. True Religion men’s jeans sell for about $100- $129. Lots of polo’s from top brands, sweaters and jackets are plentiful.
The women’s handbag selection seemed smaller than the previous store, but that could change as what they get in goes with what the designers and Nordstrom’s are willing to mark down each season. Right now there is a good selection of leather Kate Spade leather handbags and wallets in many colors. A weak selection of Michael Kor’s handbags was on tap, but what was found was well priced and just under $200 for all leather, a great deal. Wallets were plentiful from Dooney and Burke to Kate Spade and Tori Burch to name a few.
The hair care and beauty offerings are the same. You will find some more upscale brands like Fekkai shampoo for $21.00 and Kerasaste for $30. There is a nice selection of candles here for the holidays. Many sizes and colors are available.
The jewelry selection was the same, but a smaller array of choosing’s. The space seemed smaller for that section, but there was a nice table in front of it with some really cool stuff in baskets. Lots of silver costume jewelry was available.
Ready to wear, jeans and casual items are the same designers that you will see that were in the other location. Juicy Couture, Seven Jeans and all the top designer brands are there. Dresses for evening were not as plentiful, but they may be adding more merchandise since the location is new.
Women’s shoes were in the back and in a corner in a dimmer section of the store. The aisles were cramped and it was hard to pass other women in the aisles. The selection seemed good, and a bit more organized.
The women’s sunglasses section had a big selection of many brands. The sign says Gucci, but the selection was slim. Prices averaged about $99 for Gucci styles. Nice selection of Michael Kor’s sunglasses for women. Men’s sunglasses that were found were some high end brands such as Nike, Kenneth Cole and many other designers found at the retail stores marked down.
The cash register was the hardest thing to find. It’s closer to the men’s area. It’s not centered in this store or in the front like it used to be in the old location. Not seen was a selection of stuff near the cash register for last minute buys when you are waiting in line.
The old location you had to pay $2.00 for parking. At the Westfield Mall parking is always free but a bit tough here with the word out on the new location and the holidays coming. Plan accordingly.
Go check it out, shop and enjoy.
