The big bass hunters were out in full force today as the first day of the second stop of the 2013 Bassmaster Elite Series blasted off on Falcon Lake in Zapata, Texas. At close of scales Delta local Ish Monroe held a spot in the top-10 with 26-7. “I’m happy to be where I’m at; but I lost a 10 today and a seven that came off at the boat,” said the Cocoons pro from Hughson, Calif. “I will be workin’ on the same strategy for tomorrow. I’m out here fishin’ and havin’ fun. That is what I do.”
A Lone Star State local Keith Combs led the pack with a phenomenal five weighing 34-13. The biggest fish found today belonged to Triton pro Rick Morris from Lake Gaston, Va. His 9-11 claimed the Carhartt Big Bass Leader honor for Day One.
The event continues tomorrow through Sunday, March 24 with a launch time of 7:15 a.m. CT and a first flight weigh-in of 3:15 p.m. CT.
