NORAD Santa tracker 2013 draws international attention, how you can track Santa

The story of how the US Space agency NORAD tracks Santa Claus online has jumped the pond. The headline story Wednesday in the UK's Daily Mirror read. "NORAD Santa Tracker 2013: Father Christmas's trip around the world tracked online by US space program"

The Mirror noted that the NORAD Santa Tracker center employs volunteers to answer 70,000 phone calls every year from 200 countries.

Christmas countdown is on

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) began tracking Santa Claus on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The site features a number of different activities for kids including a holiday countdown, daily games and activities, videos, music and more. Santa tracker 2013 also has a 3D globe and new interactive games take advantage of the Web. NORAD's Santa Tracker site is available in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Chinese.

Microsoft designed the Santa tracker technology and keeps making it better and better each year. The site's touch screen features are best optimized by a newer browser like Explorer 11, but it with an older browser as well.

Where is Santa right now?

According to NORAD, Santa Claus is going through letters now in the North Pole. He is also continuing to make his list. He is not checking it twice just yet. The reindeer, including Rudolph, are doing twice daily workouts to get in shape for Christmas.

Remember children, Santa knows who has been bad or good so be good for goodness sake! Santa rewards children who behave and obey their parents, guardians, and teachers.

The official NORAD tracking site is here. It began operations for 2013 on Dec. 1.
