Nora Roberts' 'The Search' debuts in first place on New York Times Best Sellers List

Within a week of its July 6, 2010 release, The Search, Nora Roberts' latest romantic suspense novel, soared to the top of the New York Times Hardcover Fiction Best Sellers List. In the process, it managed the not inconsiderable feat of kicking into second place Stieg Larsson's The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, the final work in the late author's Millennium Trilogy.

On July 17, 2010 The New York Times revealed that The Search was the number one best seller. Number two was The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest. In third place was Private by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro. Janet Evanovich's Sizzling Sixteen came in fourth. Kathryn Stockett's The Help was fifth.

Number six was The Overton Window by Glenn Beck. Justin Cronin's The Passage was seventh; Brad Thor's Foreign Influence, eighth; Nelson DeMille's The Lion, ninth; and Elin Hilderbrand's The Island, tenth.

Amie Taylor, in a review of The Search published last week on Bookreporter.com, considers Roberts' latest title to be "one amazing book:"

Of course, everyone has high hopes for a new Nora Roberts title. It's a given. She hasn't written over 190 books with 400 million copies in print for nothing. We understand that. But this latest entry blows straight past the level of expectation I experience when I reach for her novels.
The Search, which takes place on Washington's Orcas Island, focuses on Fiona Bristow, a successful trainer of search and rescue dogs. Several years earlier she escaped from serial killer George Perry, who is currently imprisoned. However, a copycat killer is now on the loose, and Fiona is again a target. This time she is assisted by Simon Doyle, an attractive though often irritating furniture craftsman and his rambunctious puppy, Jaws.
