Nora Roberts’ MacGregors books to be among last Silhouette imprints

Those who enjoy reading reprints of Nora Roberts’ early Silhouette standalone novels and series publications have a surprise in store for them next year. As of April 2011, Harlequin will cease publishing these works under the Silhouette imprint, which Harlequin plans to discontinue.

Previous Silhouette series will continue to be published but will carry the Harlequin name instead. Since Harlequin published its omnibus reprints of Nora Roberts’ novels as part of the Silhouette Special Releases series, Roberts’ readers will find these works issued as Harlequin Special Releases.

“Rebranding the Silhouette series as Harlequin will ensure that these series benefit from the promotional resources dedicated to the Harlequin brand and will strengthen the Harlequin consumer brand as the market leader in romance fiction,” Harlequin’s publisher Donna Hayes and CEO Loriana Sacilotto commented in an Oct. 7, 2010 letter to their authors.

Harlequin purchased Silhouette in 1984 in a successful effort to expand its American market.  Roberts’ first published work was Silhouette title, Irish Thoroughbred (1981). She continued writing under the Silhouette imprint until 2002.

Harlequin has two additional omnibus reprints of Nora Roberts’ titles currently in the publication pipeline. The MacGregors: Serena & Caine will be released on Dec. 28, 2010. The MacGregors: Alan & Grant is due out Jan. 25, 2011. Consequently, these two works will be among the last of Roberts’ titles to be issued as Silhouette Special Releases.

The MacGregors: Serena & Caine will contain the MacGregors series novels Playing the Odds (1985) and Tempting Fate (1985). The MacGregors: Alan & Grant will reprint All the Possibilities (1985) and One Man's Art (1985).

Together, the books detail the romances of Daniel MacGregor’s daughter, Serena, and Justin Blade; of Caine MacGregor and Diana Blade, Justin’s sister; of Alan MacGregor and Shelby Campbell; and of Shelby’s brother, Grant, and Genevieve Grandeau, the Blades' cousin.
