Noomi Rapace and Tom Hardy join 'Child 44'

Noomi Rapace (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) and Tom Hardy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) seem very keen on working with each other, and adaptations of successful books.

The two are already set to star in the adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s (“Gone Baby Gone”) novel “Animal Rescue,” and now Collider reported yesterday that they are in talks to star in “Child 44.”

Based on a book by the same name from author Tom Rob Smith, the story takes place in the 1950s where it centers on a security officer (Hardy) in the Soviet Union who finds himself demoted and exiled while investigating a string of murders.

Daniel Espinosa (“Safe House”) will direct the thriller, and Rapace is eyeing the role of Hardy’s mysterious wife, with Ridley Scott and his Scott Free banner producing the film.

“Animal Rescue” shoots in March, and then they will hop over to Budapest to begin production on this in May.

I really hope these two have excellent chemistry otherwise this will be back-to-back awkward films.
