Noobicon '14 anime & gaming convention seeks Kickstarter backing

Noobiecon, an annual anime and gaming convention in Central New York, is seeking backing on Kickstarter to hold a bigger and more exciting event than previous years. The Kickstarter campaign is currently underway and is seeking $4000 in order to book the Utica Auditorium, a bold and major move for an event that was previously held on the MVCC campus.

Noobiecon will take place on September 6 and 7. The Con's organizers have a backup plan in case the Kickstarter campaign isn't funded, but it would be tremendous for the convention, and for Utica, to have an event of the size possible at the Aud happen.

As of writing, a few guests are already confirmed for the convention. These include:

  • Heather Kreiter. Heather Kreiter is a award-winning fantasy illustrator, whose credits include art for the Legend of the Five Rings CCG, the Vampire: the Eternal Struggle CCG, White Wolf Publishing and AEG. She is also the creator of the My Little Demon art series.
  • Brian Lewis, Scott C. Brown, Christian Doyle. Three of the main actors in "The Gamers," a hilarious film that looks deep into nerd/gaming culture.

Other planned events include an expo of gaming, anime and comic books related dealers; anime viewing; cosplay; gaming events, including Magic: the Gathering and HeroClix tournaments; and many other fun events!

For more information about Noobiecon, check out the Kickstarter campaign, or find the convention on Facebook.
