Last Wednesday, September 25, Ziggy's live music tavern in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, hosted the Lights, Camera, Action tour. The small tour is headlined by Nonpoint and features various other artists at select dates. Greensboro local band Hephystus opened the evening at Ziggy's.
Originating from Florida, Nonpoint is an American metal band that formed in 1997. Nonpoint consists of members: Elias Soriano (vocals), Robb Rivera (drums), Rasheed Thomas (guitar), Dave Lizzio (guitar) and Adam Woloszyn (bass). The band has released ten studio albums. The most recent album was released in October, 2012, under Razor & Tie record label. The set list played at Ziggy's featured many songs from the album, including opening song (and tour title) "Lights, Camera, Action". Despite being a weekday, the crowd helped sing Nonpoint's notable cover of "In The Air Tonight", originally performed by Phil Collins. Their set came to a strong close with their 2005 single "Bullet with a Name".
Earlier this year, Nonpoint was scheduled to play as part of the second day of Carolina Rebellion in Charlotte. Due to heavy downpour just before their performing time, their set was delayed and eventually cancelled. Nonpoint will make their first return to Charlotte since the Carolina Rebellion at The Fillmore on December 5, on tour with Megadeth and Fear Factory.
A nearby progressive metal band from Greensboro, North Carolina, opened for Nonpoint. The band, named Hephystus, was formed in 2008 by vocalist Brandon Miller, guitarist Matt Halberg and drummer Troy Surratt. They were later joined by bassist Aaron Yow, who completes their deep, dramatic sound. Hephystus is scheduled to release their second album Fragmenting Shadows on November 1, this year. They will be celebrating with a CD release party at Greene Street Club in Greensboro, on November 16.
