Noni bags

Maybe you have one or maybe you have seen them and wanted one for your own. You don't need to wait any longer Nora Bellows is coming to Madison, Connecticut as a guest teacher of Madison Wool. She is the designer of Noni bags and flowers in both knit and crochet felted designs.

A weekend workshop will be held at The Tidewater Inn, October 1-2, 2011. Stop by Madison Wool located at 56 Wall Street, Madison, CT 06443, to see the new Noni patterns for bags and flowers in stock, in both knit and crochet. A Noni Trunk Show will be at the shop for you to see her beautifully designed bags. There is also finishing hardware for your bag. All of this is on display in the "Back Room".

Nora will teach you her expert finishing techniques for the bags and flowers to get a professional finished look for your Noni creation. The finishing techniques include how to structure a bag, chose and apply a variety of closures, including magnetic snaps of various sorts, buttons, flaps and a variety of handle designs. Students will be introduced to a variety of bag feet and how to apply them. The design and personal embellishments will be discussed in order to create a truly one-of-a-kind bag. Nora presents several basic methods for making flowers. The workshop will utilize the Tidewater's washing machine for felting your inished items.

The cost of the weekend is $200.00 and includes a light supper Friday Night (optional ‘show and tell’ session), lunch both Saturday and Sunday, and refreshments. The class is a maximum of 18 students. To register for the workshop, email or call Dayna at Madison Wool (dayna@craftyscientist.com, 203-245-5921). A $50.00 deposit holds your space. For overnight accomodations at The Tidewater Inn, contact Viki Kolyvas at escape@thetidewater.com , 203-245-8457.

During the Fall/Winter 2005 season Nora founded Noni Designs and launched a line of eight fashionable, innovative bag and embellishment patterns that are as beautiful as the designs they feature. Nora encourages students to make a bag that scares them, so as to take maximum advantage of the techniques provided as part of the class. I also believe a "stretch" outside your comfort zone is good for the advancement of your craft (art).

Don't wait, sign up now. Plan a weekend getaway at the Tidewater (it's Autumn in New England). You will have a gorgeous bag (you created yourself) to show off this fall.
