Nominations for 82nd Academy Awards announced

Earlier this morning, nominations for the 82nd Academy Awards were announced.  The most nominations this year are for Avatar and The Hurt Locker, each with nine nominations, followed by Inglorious Basterds, trailing with eight nominations, and tied for third are Precious and Up in the Air with six nominations.

Also, this marks the first year since 1992 that an animated film will have been nominated for Best Picture, with Up getting nominated (the last one was for Beauty and the Beast).  This will also be the first year that the Best Picture category will feature 10 films instead of 5.

Here are the nominees for the major categories at this year's forthcoming Academy Awards:

Best Picture:  Avatar, The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, A Serious Man, Up, and Up in the Air.

Note:  Avatar, The Blind Side, and Up in the Air are still playing in your local theaters

Best Actor:  Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart, George Clooney for Up in the Air, Colin Firth for A Single Man, Morgan Freeman for Invictus, and Jeremy Renner for The Hurt Locker

What did you think of the nominations? I'm excited that Sandra Bullock was nominated- though she was also just nominated for a Razzle and I kinda hope she wins both in the same weekend hahaha. As usual, I have not seen most of these movies but I'm rooting for anything that is NOT Avatar.
