Whether you’re looking for atmosphere with your dinner, a few drinks after work or a place to relax, Nola’s has a place for you.
Entering from Ramona, south of University, you’ll find yourself in a narrow hallway with people standing around watching the game in the bar area to the right of you. On the left is an opening to a quiet lounge area with couches and mood lighting for a much more intimate engagement.
Some barely legal modelesque waitresses stand at the end of the hallway to greet you before Nola’s two floors open up to you. The bottom area is filled with large table seating, for parties of four to six, though can be arranged to accommodate a larger group if needed. Along the four corners of the grounds are tiny stairs leading up to the second floor with narrower style seating for two, though two long tables run across each side for parties who may be louder than the music.
The roof top is non-existent as Nola allows the sky and elements to enter into their dining courtyard décor, though overhangs protect diners from any mist or rain.
The menu offers a unique outlook on dining with sausage gator dumplings, black and blue steak, crawfish, shrimp and scallops, and numerous other spicy Cajun influenced dishes. For a three course dinner for two accompanied by a bottle of red wine you can expect to pay around $130 including tip, and plan on being there for at least two hours.
Of course, after you’ve got your fill of delicious food you’ll probably not want to leave anytime soon.
For those interested in crowd watching, you’ll find most to be mid 30’s and 40’s who just walked out of the corporate office in their business casual attire. An even mix of men and women in the lounge and courtyard may give it a couples feel at first, but in the bar area you’ll find your singles hangout.
