Nokomis, Dexter connection leads Husson field hockey in 2-0 start to the season

The Husson Eagles field hockey team started their season with two wins at the Southern Maine Invitational in Gorham this weekend.

Taylor Shaw and Taylor Lovely combined to help the Nokomis Warriors win quite a few games in their high school career.

On Saturday afternoon, the duo combined for three goals to lead the Husson University Eagles to a 4-1 victory over Manhattanville.

Shaw opened up the scoring at the 9:26 mark of the first half. Lovely gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead at the 25:14 mark. Shaw capped off the first half scoring with under three minutes left in the half.

Libby Kain from Dexter high school gave Husson a 4-0 lead, early in the second half. Abby Greenleaf secured the victory with solid play in goal for the Eagles. Greenleaf finished with 10 saves.

Lovely scored her second goal of the season in a 2-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine on Sunday afternoon.

Sarah Eastman from Dexter started the scoring when she put one in on a scrum in front of the net with 13:53 remaining in the first half. Greenleaf finished with seven saves.
