A new leaked press image of an upcoming Nokia Windows 8 device, the Nokia Lumia 929 was tweeted by reliable mobile device leaker, @evleaks Saturday (Sept. 21). The Verizon LTE capable device resembles the photo leaked earlier this month of the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1520 smartphone.
The similarities in the number of live Windows 8 tiles found on the homescreen of the Nokia Lumia 929 image leak reveals a clue about the device’s specs. As seen in the Lumia 1520 leaked image, the same 3 columns and 5 ½ rows exists on the Lumia 929. This hints that the Nokia Lumia 929 could feature the same 1080p display rumored for the Lumia 1520.
Additional specs for the Nokia Lumia 929 are a mystery, rumors suggest that the screen size could possibly smaller than the 6-inch Lumia 1520 Windows 8 phone, codenamed “Bandit”. The Lumia 929 will follow the 4.5-inch Nokia Lumia 928 smartphone, so it’s fair to speculate that the Lumia 929 could be of a 4.5 to 5-inch device.
Nokia announced through Twitter last week that October 22 is a significant day for Nokia products. As WPCentral reported, Nokia cancelled it’s New York launch event, which was expected to take place at the end of September. A twitter post from @evleaks supports this unexpected turn of events.
Nokia was expected to announce an upcoming Windows 8.1 RT tablet and also the Lumia 1520. According to reports, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is rumored to have a release date of Nov. 8 on AT&T’s wireless network, priced at $700 off contract. As for the Nokia Lumia 929, information about the release date and pricing of the device has yet to be revealed.
