November 14, 2011 (New York, NY) -- Don your British best. Noel Gallagher plays the first of two shows at New York City's Beacon Theather tonight.
What's more, the former "chief" of Oasis has just announced a Spring 2012 US tour and an upcoming appearance on Conan.
Direct from Gallagher's office:
"Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds will return to the US in Spring next year launching their tour in Washington, DC on March 28th and make stops in Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee and Atlanta. Tickets for the spring tour go on sale November 18th. (Complete tour dates below) Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are in the midst of a sold-out North American tour and a week into the release of their self titled debut album.
On November 8th, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds was released in the US on Sour Mash/Mercury Records followed by their network television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman on November 10th. The band will make a special appearance on Conan on December 12th.
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds went straight to the #1 spot in the United Kingdom, selling an impressive 240,000 and going Platinum in its first 3 weeks of release. Gallagher's debut solo album, which was released in Europe on October 18th, ranks among the highest selling debuts of 2011."
You may recall that I gave the album 5 stars, calling it the first classic of 2011. Truly this is one you'll be playing, and humming along to, for years to come.

Gallagher told me recently that the reception to his album was a pleasant surprise. "I didn't know what a Noel Gallagher audience was," he said. "So I made this album for me. But the response has been great, 1 million YouTube hits (for the video for lead-off single "The Death of You and Me") and all. I'm ready to play it for the people."
Reviews from a recent mini-tour were very positive, and a recent full-concert appearance on the BBC showed Gallagher in fine form, with not a hint of the nerves at being the lone frontman he told me of prior to the start of the tour.
"I quite liked standing to the side, playing my guitar, writing the songs and singing the odd song," Gallagher said. "Frankly, this is a pain in the arse. But talk to me in a few weeks and we'll see."
Well, I'll ask him how it's going, to be sure. But by all accounts of the recent shows in Toronto, Philadelphia and Boston, Gallagher and Co. are hitting their stride.
So grab a ticket for the Beacon tonight or tomorrow, and be sure to mark that November 18th on-sale date in your calendar.
