Stop and look at the Shop Local banners on Market Street and Euclid Avenue. The banners on the light poles in Myrtle Cole's district 4 were put in above the street by the SD business district to turn heads, and keep local customers regular customers.

Infrequent stops in to shop at Food4Less make business drop, and leave the business investors and city leaders the scapegoats for putting off the day the southeast diamond business district grows into an international marketplace. Thirty eight signs went up in February. Federal Boulevard and Imperial Avenue banners remind shoppers across the diamond the loyal shopping habit is local. Work on the banners goes on. The diamond business district plans to put up three times the number by 2015.

Getting local shoppers back in the southeast San Diego shopping base will give the community relief from the long good, and bad, growth years.

Risky business done in the lagging local market does not fit in the work the local entrepreneurs commited to in the southeast diamond business district.

Time for local shopping crowds to notice their local entrepreneurs need them to "support our local businesses and spend hard earned dollars in our communities." The district's work on cultivating colorful market streets goes to waste if the locals do not listen, and shop near home.
