No seat belts? Reports say Honey Boo Boo’s mom didn't buckle up before accident

Honey Boo Boo’s family was involved in a serious accident on Tuesday night. The family's SUV was sideswiped by another vehicle at traffic light in their hometown. According to E! Online, none of the family members were seriously hurt and all of the passengers were able to walk away. However, it's really hard to understand why Honey Boo Boo’s mom, June Shannon, wasn't wearing her seat belt.

While the cast of Here Come’s Honey Boo Boo were lucky as the accident could have been so severe, the message of not wearing a seat belt is serious. Everyone is aware that June always makes her kids first priority, but that also includes buckling up for her to be around to watch the children grow up.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration seat belts are the single most effective traffic safety device for preventing death and injury. Research has proven that wearing a seat belt can reduce the risk of crash injuries by 50 percent and definitely save lives. While there is common sense to wearing a seat belt, it’s also required in Louisiana by law. According to the Louisiana DMV website, failure to do so will result in a ticket.

June Shannon was one lucky lady and next time she gets in a car she needs to buckle up. Honey Boo Boo fans love her and would hate to see that she didn't and was seriously hurt in another accident.
