No repeat of week one, Brady falls short against the Jets

Tom Brady's 21-game winning streak is over.  The New England Patriots fell to the New York Jets 16-9 today at the Meadowlands.  But it wasn't the trash-talk that won this game, it was the defense.

The entire game saw just one touchdown, by the Jets in the third quarter on a nine-yard pass from Mark Sanchez to Dustin Keller.  Both kickers were busy however, with the Patriots' Stephen Gostkowski and the Jets' Jay Feely scoring three field goals each.

Unlike the week one game against the Buffalo Bills, Brady was unable to pull off the last-minute win, throwing four incomplete passes on the final drive.  Overall, Brady was limited to just 216 yards, completing 23 of 47 passes and throwing one interception.

The Patriots offensive was unimpressive to say the least, constantly under pressure from the Jets tough defense.  Wide receiver Julian Edelman caught eight for 98 yards, while Joey Galloway was five for 53 yards.  Randy Moss was nearly shut down by the Jets, recording just 24 yards.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick was tight-lipped as always in the post-game press conference, repeating "We just didn't do a good enough job."  Brady gave the Jets credit for playing as well as they did. He was frustrated that they failed to execute after much preparation for the game.  Brady mentioned red-zone play and penalties as specific things that the team needs to do better.
