As CBN News reported on Friday, the movement to further the "rights" for those who identify themselves as "transgendered" is yielding some disturbing consequences, obliterating the often-advertised slogan of "equality", trumping the privacy and free-speech rights of all others. As CBN Reports, girls at Florence High School in Colorado have been harassed by a male, transgender student, inside the school's restroom.
When the girls informed their parents of this, the parents then reached out to school officials with complaints. What did the school officials conclude? They told parents that the transgendered student's rights "trumped the girls' privacy rights".
As the controversy grew and as more students began to voice their concerns over the matter, threats of students being kicked off of athletic teams and of students being charged with hate crimes followed suit.
In other words, it appears that those who are pushing for transgender rights could care less about the other 99 percent of the student population, whose privacy is being violated, and whose constitutional right to voice their concerns is being stripped away.
The Pacific Justice Institute, upon learning of the situation, sent a letter to school officials, warning them about suppressing students' privacy and free-speech rights.
"We're not going to stand by and let 99.7 percent of our students lose their privacy and free speech rights just because .3 percent of the population are gender-confused," said PJI.
In fact, the PJI is demanding assurances from school officials that students' privacy and free-speech rights will be protected.
