Women that rock are nothing new. Look at the likes of Joan Jett or Janis Joplin and that becomes pretty apparent. But, in today's pop-driven market, seeing a group of female musicians playing some raw, edgy Rock 'n' Roll is a rarity. That is exactly what No Pony brings to the table.
Last night at the Symposium in Lakewood, this female power trio unleashed a finely crafted assortment of rock and alternative numbers, heavy on old-school influences and covers.
Two-part vocal harmonies combined with tight instrumentals made for a great listening experience filled with dynamics.
The guitarist/lead vocalist executed songs including Janis Joplin's "Bang Bang" with perfect inflection and emotion. Joplin herself would be proud.
