In a recent earnings call from Take-Two Interactive, the publisher revealed that they are currently working on several next-gen titles from both existing franchises as well as new intellectual properties. Those hoping that one of these might be a Grand Theft Auto game are in for some bad news as Playstation Lifestyle reported on Oct 31 that Take-Two President Karl Slatoff confirmed that there hasn’t even been a discussion about bringing the GTA series to the Xbox One or Playstation 4 at this point.
At the current time, all focus for the open-world crime franchise is fully on further improving and developing content for Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Slatoff admitted that there is nothing to reveal regarding a next-gen Grand Theft Auto title because the possibility has yet to even be discussed at this point.
Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto V continues to dominate game sales as the latest Rockstar Games title has now moved around 29 million units. With this level of performance, it’s no surprise that Take-Two would rather focus on a currently available product that is still doing well presently rather than looking ahead to the future.
