'No Pants Subway Ride' event assembles at Hollywood and Highland (Photos)

Southland Metro Rail commuters got quite a surprise Sunday, Jan. 13 when a bevy of random people dressed for 50-degree temperatures were observed minus their pants, riding the LA rail system for the 12th annual ‘No Pants Subway Ride’ to Hollywood—an event sponsored and led by five members of the Guerilla Los Angeles Improv Group (GLA).

The large gathering of pant-less participants met up around 3 p.m. for a large group photo shoot on the steps of the Hollywood and Highland shopping center, adding some excitement for many on-lookers as they observed the unusual vast assemblage of people willing to freeze their buns off for this special occasion.

After the photo shoot many congregated at the Pig-N-Whistle for Happy Hour.

Started back in 2002 as a prank staged by seven guys from Improve Everywhere in New York City, the ‘No Pants Subway Ride’ has grown into an international craze of silliness with various cities around the world participating every year.
