Well folks, your screen will be slightly less naked tonight since Sparty and his crew have taken a break. 'What happened?' you might ask. 'Did Agron and Naevia pitch another hissy fit? Did Crixus yell something even louder than normal and bust a microphone? Did Liam McIntyre accidentally go on the IMDb forum and read yet another scathing opinion about how he can never measure up to Andy Whitfield? Or perhaps the rebels were running toward a large blue box and discovered that it was bigger on the inside than the outside? Oh wait...Wrong fandom...
Anyway, if you were hoping for one of those awesome explanations above, sorry to disappoint you. Neither DeKnight nor Starz has given a reason for the absence but they assure fans the show will be back next week. While this isn't an answer by any means, shows have taken inexplicable breaks from time to time. You see, sometimes in the mysterious (and often stupid) world of television, shows take what is known as a 'hiatus' from airing new episodes; these shows are normally on ABC, CBS, NBC and any other kind of random three lettered station. But 'Spartacus' is most definitely not on any of those. That is what makes Starz and HBO different from the rest of television programs - well, that and the crazy amount of naked people. In its entire run 'Spartacus' has never taken a break between airings; on the contrary, they play the same episode three times in a row. And though the reasons for the break are unknown at the moment, you can always badger the cast and the show's creator, Steven DeKnight, on either their Facebook page or their Twitter. At the moment however, it's quite baffling at the lack of reason.
But no matter how much you curse Jupiter's cock and/or drink wine straight from the box, it won't change the fact that we will be without muscled bodies, bad tans, and some sort of plot for yet another week.
In the meantime, you can settle for YouTube videos, reruns of past episodes, and your DVDs. There is also the promo for 'Decimation', which will air next week at 9 p.m.
