No McDonald's at MSP Airport? How will we ever survive?

Yes, junk food fans, it's true. Both McDonald's locations on Concourse G at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport are gone. And some travelers are actually up in arms about it. Granted, the golden arches is the most popular fast food restaurant in the world, but does that mean it has to be at MSP? And if the answer is yes, then locate it in the food court in the heart of the terminal, please.

Delta Air Lines has made a major commitment to upgrading the traveling experience at MSP beginning with Concourse G, and I for one think it's great. There are still a huge number of fast food options including Arby's, Subway, Burger King, Quiznos, Einstein's, Pei Wei, DQ and many more, but the unmistakeable smell of McDonalds wafting through the concourse won't be missed by this traveler.

Apparently, according to airport officials, they are trying to rectify the lack of McDonald's at the airport by finding a new location that is acceptable to the company. So far, those that have been offered have been rejected. How about giving travelers some time to discover the new dining options on the concourse before caving in? With the addition of local eateries such as Matt's Bar with Jucy Lucy burgers, Shoyu sushi, Tagliare Sicilian pizza and Custom Burgers, Concourse G is improving itself dramatically, especially for frequent fliers who quickly grow tired of the unhealthy options available in airports across the country.

Quoted recently in the StarTribune, Delta spokewoman Leslie Parker said, "We think there is something for everyone in our dining program at Concourse G." I couldn't agree more, and am thrilled to see the improvements that Delta has already made at JFK and LaGuardia airports in New York, come to the Twin Cities. I surely won't miss the smell of McDonald's fries brought aboard my flight and spreading throughout the aircraft.
