Very cool article; makes me think of National Treasure,
The Da Vinci Code, The Librarian and The Skulls, all
among my favorite movies, of course.
That is odd to see that symbol on Laguna HS! They do keep a low profile about things like that. I wonder why they go to the trouble for random public schools? There must be some significance. And I wonder why the district lets them? (Not that it causes any harm; it's just that public schools can be awfully strict about who gets to do what.)
Thanks for your comment Emily. It doesn't seem to be random in Elk Grove. The Masons apparently have a cornerstone-laying ceremony for every school the EG district builds. I used to take students to look at the one at Calvine High. Naturally, the administration wondered what we were all looking at. Even the administrators were unaware of the symbol's presence. I think it shows that the Masons have way more influence than most of us realize, which is the point I tried to get across to students.
