According to Wednesday's publication of the Bradenton Herald, a no-kill animal sanctuary in Manatee County, Fla., has been raided by the authorities.

Following a weeks long investigation, warrants were executed at Napier's Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary, a self-described "No-Kill," non-profit animal sanctuary.

Officials who arrived to the property discovered about 250 dogs, upwards of 80 cats, as well as horses, chickens and goats.

Owners of the sanctuary were under scrutiny because of accusations that they were selling sickly animals and possibly, were not meeting non-profit criteria. The facility is reported to have been run with a "closed door" policy and there are rumors of neglect and abuse.

On the sanctuary's website, the following information is provided:

It is a "No-Kill" Sanctuary that once an animal is accepted will always have a home. (Adopted animals are always welcomed to return to the Sanctuary at any time for whatever reason).

According to the publication, veterinarians are on scene to provide care to the animals on site.

The Herald Tribune has reported that the attorney for the owners of the non-profit are at the property, but will not speak on record. The publication also reports that a spokesperson for the Manatee County Sheriff's Office has stated that condition are "worse than" anticipated.
