No flowers for Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston’s family is requesting that no one send flowers to the funeral, RumorFix reported yesterday. Instead, they are asking that donation be made to Whitney Houston’s favorite cause. That cause is the Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative and Performing Arts in East Orange, New Jersey - less than five miles from Whitney Houston’s home town of Newark. The Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative and Performing Arts was formerly known as The Franklin School. Whitney Houston attended the school as a child.

"That is a great idea," Sacha Harvey, a mother of two from Oklahoma City, said. "I'm a huge fan of Whitney [Houston's]. I should probably donate in her name to a local school like that."

Whitney Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel last Friday. Toxicology reports will allow the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. It is believed that a fatal mixture of Xanax and alcohol caused Whitney Houston to slip into a state of unconsciousness, causing her death at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Funeral services will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church, the church where Whitney Houston sang with her mother, Cissy Houston, as a child and started her Grammy-winning career. The services will be at noon on Saturday, with Whitney’s Houston’s internment at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey. She will be placed beside her father, John Russell Houston, Jr.
