No flower's this year for your special one for Valentine's Day

Guys, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Unless you are planning a big engagement announcement, which flowers or candy is not the primary gift idea.

Your girlfriend is probably expecting the usual bouquet of flowers, or alternates like edible fruit arrangements.

Remember when you were in grade school and each Christmas, you made ornaments to bring home and hang of your tree. Your mother always seemed thrilled that you made this for her and was proud to place on the tree (or that is what it seemed like when you were eight).

Chocolate dipped strawberries are the answer. It is so easy to accomplish you would will not believe it when you are finished.

So take the time and put effort into this and show her how much you care about her. Also this will probably cost less than going to the flower shop which is a bonus for the wallet.
This recipe is enough to give to your mom also.

What you need
16-20 each ripe strawberries (long stem is the best, but might be hard to find)
1 10 ounce bag milk chocolate Ghirardelli chips
Medium size pot water filled ¾ of the way full
Medium sized metal that fits on pot and sets on the water
Sheet or cookie tray lined with wax or parchment pater

How to make
*In a bowl wash strawberries, and drain well.
*Thoroughly, dry strawberries with paper towels on bottom and the top. The best is to let dry overnight in the refrigerator.
*Bring water in a pot to a boil, (this is called a double boil) reduce heat to medium high heat and fill bowl with chocolate chips.
*Using a rubber spatula constantly stir chocolate until well melted.
*When chocolate is completely melted, turn off heat. Leave chocolate bowl on the hot pot.
*Take each strawberry and hold it by the green stem and dip about ¾ of the way into the chocolate.
*Set each strawberry on the cookie or sheet pan with wax or parchment paper. Make sure they are not touching each other.
*Repeat this still process until all strawberries are used.
*You might have to tilt the bowl, and use a rubber spatula to move chocolate to the lower half of the bowl so all strawberries can be covered 3/4 of the way in chocolate.
*Set chocolate dipped strawberries in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (can be made day in advance
*Set on a nice serving tray and keep cold until ready to give to that special someone.
