A "deal" is not really a deal unless both parties involved get something they want. Remember that as we move forward.
What did the Republicans get? Nothing. Zilch. Naught.
And why? It is because by and large the two Parties have become one, and the Party leadership in the GOP has decided not to fight Obama seriously on anything, despite their public pronouncements to the contrary.
What did Obama and the Democrats get in this joke that is being called a "deal?" He got the power to continue spending money we don't have, into oblivion. He got Obamacare fully funded. He kept his tax on medical devices.
What on earth did Obama give up in this "deal?" Nothing!
And as bad as Obamacare is, the most dangerous aspect of this so-called deal is the continued borrowing and spending of money the federal government does not have.
If you make $30,000 per year and then borrow almost that much to go on a spending spree to get things that people in your income bracket cannot have, your failure to borrow more money when you are at the breaking point does not mean you default or that you "cannot pay your bills" or that "your full faith and credit is in danger of being lost." In fact, if you stop borrowing you will be congratulated for being a smart cookie who is responsible with his use of money.
A man who is broke and in debt does not borrow even more money to go deeper into debt. The deeper in debt he goes, the worse off he becomes. So, he must stop borrowing and spending, and begin to live within his means.
Each time the debt ceiling is raised, more money is borrowed and spent. And the worse off we become. Borrowing more and more money is not going to solve our financial woes. Instead, it hastens the day when we have complete economic collapse.
This debt ceiling "debate" had nothing do with default or threatening the full faith and credit of the United States, no matter what the lying talking heads on TV and in Congress say. Just as the hypothetical man described above, who will still bring home $30,000 per year regardless, so the United States will still collect multibillions in taxes and will continue to operate. What Obama and the Democrats wanted was the freedom to spend more and more money we do not have, to borrow more money when we are up to our eyeballs in debt.
Thankfully, the poor man described above will be told by potential creditors when he tries to borrow more money that he cannot, that he is no longer credit worthy. So he will have to manage with what he already has. That is the best thing that can happen to him.
But no one is around to tell the U.S. Government no. We have already borrowed nearly $17 trillion. Obama and the Democrats believe that this is not enough and that we must borrow more. Our demise, thus, is sure. Yet many intellectually challenged Americans breath a sigh of relief and congratulate liars and betrayers such as Obama, Reid, Schumer, Pelosi, Durbin, McCain, Graham, and Ayotte for "being willing to negotiate."
No, they didn't. McConnell, McCain, Boehner, Ayotte, and Graham didn't get a thing their side wanted. Yet these same people claim Obama is not a dictator. If that were true, then why does the GOP leadership fall all over itself to give the man every single thing he wants?
The dirty little secret is that these particular Republicans want what Obama wants. They are part what has become the Elitist Party that includes Republicans and Democrats. They are the "ruling class," which we're not supposed to have in America. And they are enemies of the common citizen. They do not care what we the citizens want.
There are only a handful of Republicans in the Senate who are true to conservative principles. Less than half a dozen. In the House there only about 100, although I will say there are signs that there are more than that due to the Tea Party's influence in 2010 and 2012. But most politicians in Washington are worthless vermin who live off the fat of the land (meaning our tax dollars), expecting us peons to obey laws they are exempted from.
And let's be very clear at this point. The memories of the patriots never grow dim. We remember, and we get even. An electoral massacre is coming in the 2014 midterm elections, if we survive one more year. And even that is in serious doubt.
