On-site nurses and technicians will provide no-cost mammography, a clinical breast exam and instructions for self-examination at the North Bellmore Public Library on Long Island February 21 from 8:45-noon under the co-sponsorship of State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr (R-Merrick) and NuHealth/Nassau Health Care Corporation. Patients and their doctors will be notified of the results.
The program is open to all Nassau County women ages 40+. Those covered by private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid will be required to bring their information card and a prescription from their physician for screening. Patients will be responsible for co-pays charged to their carrier. Woman age 40 and older without health insurance will not pay any out-of-pocket costs.
Please note, appointments must be made to participate. Patients will have to show ID at the time of the mammography. In addition, if anyone has had a previous mammogram through Nassau County Health Corp., they will need to bring their prior film to their appointment. For more information readers can call Sen. Fuschillo’s office at 516 882-0630.
