Despite the disturbing appearance of a dog hanging from the ceiling in a dog spa in Wilmington, N.C., there will be no charges filed, reported Monday's Star News Online.

The photo was recently uploaded to Facebook by Tim Suggs, a former employee at Olga's Dog Spa, and it quickly went viral on the internet. Shortly thereafter, police launched an investigation to determine if animal cruelty charges were warranted.

After interviewing multiple people, the district attorney's office determined that the dog was not harmed, and therefore, no charges would be forthcoming.

Samantha Dooies, the New Hanover County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman, stated:

After interviews with all the witnesses, we had no proof that this dog sustained that kind of harm,

"As horrible as that picture looks, looks can be deceiving."

The incident was reported to have taken place five years ago, and the dog, named "Vinnie," was wearing a harness at the time; spa owner Olga Littleton told the authorities that the dog was not harmed.

After the tremendous response from the posting of the photo, Suggs reached out to apologize to Littleton - telling her that "things got really out of hand," and adding that he hoped she would forgive him.
