The fifth-ranked Washington Huskies opened the season with a sweep over Boise State in the opening game of the Northwest challenge on Friday night.
The Huskies (1-0) were dominant in the 25-18, 25-16, 25-16 sweep over the Broncos (0-1). The Dawgs hit .400, while limiting Boise State to hitting just .241.
Krista Vansant led the Dawgs with 11 kills, while Melanie Wade had nine kills to go with a .692 hitting percentage. Kylin Munoz added seven kills while hitting an error-free .636, as the Dawgs had 49 kills to just 11 errors.
Taylor Murphey led Boise State with 10 kills. The Broncos knocked in 33 kills and committed 12 errors.
Jenni Nogueras led the Huskies with 23 assists, and the Huskies recorded nine blocks in a solid all-around opening night effort.
The Huskies return to the court for a double-header on Saturday, taking on host Portland State followed by a match with Gonzaga. The Huskies home opener is against Seattle University on Tuesday.
