No. 4 Stanford women tested again, but win 67th straight conference game

The No. 4 Stanford women have had to work pretty hard lately to keep their Pac-12 streak alive.  After being forced into overtime at home to beat Cal on Saturday, the Cardinal found itself tied with Arizona State with 12 minutes left in Tempe, Ariz., on Thursday.

Stanford then reeled off 14 straight points to win its 67th straight conference game and improve to 19-1 overall while droppeding ASU to 15-6 overall and 6-3 in the conference.

But it is getting a bit dicey for the Cardinal, especially since it has become so dependent on the production of two players -- the Ogwumike sisters. Nneka Ogwumike had 22 points and Chiney had 20, and each had 16 rebounds. Over the past five games, younger sister Chiney has been considerably more productive than Nneka, with Chiney averaging 20.0 points and 13.2 rebounds over that five-game stretch, while Nneka has averaged 17.6 points and 9.4 boards over that same span.

The Cardinal needs a little more help from its guards. Freshman forward Taylor Greenfield came off the bench to hit 3 of 5 three-point shots, and perhaps she can provide the outside threat Stanford will need as the season progresses.
