No.4 Auburn shocks No.1 Alabama in final play of game

In what is being deemed as one of the most spectacular college football finishes in sports history, Auburn shocked Alabama by returning a missed field goal attempt 109 yards for a game winning touchdown. Nick Saban who earlier had argued to have 1 second put back on the clock in order to get one more play off could only watch in dismay from the sidelines. Alabama, who came into the game ranked No.1, saw their hopes for a third National Champion dashed.

Saban who is known as one of the best coaches in college football is well known for his decision making during football games. However as Tim Letcher says in an article for Rant Sports, "Saban made a big mistake in Saturday’s game against Alabama’s arch rivals, the Auburn Tigers." when he sent walk-on freshman, Adam Griffith, to try a 57-yard field goal that would have won the game.

Letcher goes on to say Saban, "got burned," and would have been better served by having A.J. McCarron, throw the ball to the end zone, hoping that Amari Cooper or Kevin Norwood could make a play.

Decision making is a part of life. Sometimes people make good decisions, other times not so much. There once was a King who had a decision to make his name was David. One day he was out on his balcony when he saw a woman on another roof taking a bath. In his heart he had a decision to make, in modesty turn around and go back into his palace or list after the woman so much he had to have her.

His decision is one of history. King David chose to go after Bathsheba, another man's wife, and it cost him dearly. David and Bathsheba lost their baby, David temporarily lost his favor with God, and the whole incident caused him great shame.

In life there will always be decisions to make. Some like the one Saban had to make which only change the course of a game, others like the one David made will change the course of a lifetime.

The key to good decision making is first seeking the advice of God who says in Jeremiah 33:3 ESV, "Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known." then the advice of others who are wise in the Lord's ways. Proverbs 11:14 ESV reminds everyone, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety."
