Third-ranked University of Iowa won eight of ten matches to defeat No. 5 ranked Oklahoma State, 24-6, in front of 10,141 fans at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City Friday night.

It was the greatest margin of victory for the Hawkeyes over the Cowboys since 1995, and the third loss of the season for the Orange and Black.

Bonus points were not a factor in any of the individual bouts.

The two matches Oklahoma State won were at 141, where No. 14 Anthony Collica got a 5-3 win over No. 9 Josh Dziewa, and, at 174, where 2013 NCAA defending champ Chris Perry – ranked second in his weight class – edged No. 6 Mike Evans, 5-4.

Among the top matches for Iowa: at 149, No. 20 Brody Grothus got a 9-5 win over fifth-ranked Josh Kindig (OSU), 9-5… at 165, No. 5 Nick Moore defeated second-ranked Tyler Caldwell, 3-1 SV, avenging a last-season loss… and, in a battle of familiar foes from suburban Chicago who have wrestled each other since age 11, No. 4 Tony Ramos earned an 8-2 win over top-ranked Jon Morrison at 133, extending his win streak at Carver-Hawkeye to 30 matches.

"We got punched in the mouth by a good Iowa team and didn't know how to respond. We just laid down," said Oklahoma State head coach John Smith. "We didn't look like we were trying to score points early in the matches. It was almost like we were trying to set ourselves up to steal some of the matches."

With the win, Iowa is now 9-1 for the season, while Oklahoma State falls to 3-3.
