No. 14 Nebraska comes back late against Ohio State,34-27

The No. 14 Nebraska Cornhuskers were able to mount a huge comeback to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes in their Big 10 home debut, 34-27.

The Cornhuskers hoped to bounce back following a devastating loss last week at Wisconsin but did not get off to a good start. The Buckeyes lead 20-6 at halftime and extended the lead to 27-6 in the middle of the third quarter.

On the next drive, Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David stripped OSU quarterback Braxton Miller, and two plays later quarterback Taylor Martinez ran 18 yards for Nebraska's first touchdown of the game.

The Cornhuskers were able to shut down the OSU offense for the rest of the game and tied the game with 7:35 left in the fourth quarter. Three plays later, OSU quarterback Joe Bauserman threw an interception that set up Nebraska at their own 22. On the ensuing drive, running back Rex Burkhead carried the ball three straight times and ended the drive with a 17-yard touchdown to take the lead, 34-27.

Ohio State played two quarterbacks, Miller, who went out with an ankle injury, and Bauserman. The second half effort of the Cornhuskers on both sides of the ball prevented two defeats in consecutive weeks and marked the largest come from behind victory in school history. Nebraska moves to 1-1 in the Big 10 and 5-1 overall while OSU falls to 3-3 and 0-2 in conference.

Ohio State's next game is against Illinois on Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m.(ET). Nebraska's next game is against Minnesota on Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m.(ET).
