NM school shooting: were some kids warned not to go into school?

Top news coming in to a warm San Francisco today is about the 12-year-old boy now being held after he shot two of his classmates yesterday in New Mexico, at his middle school in Roswell.

"When will people learn that violence is not the answer?" says San Francisco resident, Katie Adler.

Newser.com is reporting that some students may have been warned about the shooting before it actually happened.

The news site reports:

"We have preliminary information that possibly some of the students were warned by the individual prior to the shooting not to go to school," the state police chief said last night, as per CNN.

The boy entered the gym at the Berrendo Middle School yesterday in the morning, as 500 students were standing around, trying to avoid being out in the cold before their classes began. He then proceeded to start shooting with a sawn-off .20-gauge shotgun.

Reports are being issued that say teacher John Masterson walked up to the suspect and told him to put the gun down. The 7th-grader was pointing the gun at the teacher as he was talking.
