NM House Bill 77 is not dead: only stalled

According to a report coming from the NRA website, HB 77 has stalled not died like some bloggers are saying. The House Judiciary committee voted 8-8 on the question of whether or not "to pass" the bill. All republicans plus one democrat, Eliseo Lee Alcon, representative from Milan voted against the bill, while the remaining democrats voted for it.

Rep. Miguel Garcia is resubmitting the bill with an amendment to take out the registry for firearms owners. The democrats believe that this ought to make the bill more palatable for their republican counterparts. There is no word yet on when HB 77 will be re-introduced.

2nd Amendment supporters should be ready to show their force of numbers again at the Round House when HB 77 is re-introduced.
