Starting next year, the NLL will have only three teams instead of four teams from each division make the postseason. The division winner will advance to the second round, and will play the winner of the divisional semi-final in a two game series. If teams are tied after the two game series, an extra ten minutes will be played. The division winner will host the second game and be on the road for the first game.
The two game series will take place again for the Champion's Cup. The regular season schedule will also expand from 16 to 18 regular season games.
The NLL also announced a new collective bargaining agreement through to 2020. Highlights of the new agreement include lowering the age of free agency from 32 to 30, reduction of active players on the roster from 23 to 20 and a compensatory draft selection to teams who lose an unrestricted free agent.
