Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, is presenting the New Jersey premiere of Motherhood Out Loud. This collection of pieces about motherhood from every angle is coming to Dreamcatcher fresh from its recent Off-Broadway run at Primary Stages in New York City. Motherhood Out Loud plays April 24 through May 11, with talkbacks following the April 27 and May 4 matinees.

Both heartbreaking and hilarious, Motherhood Out Loud features the writing of Leslie Ayvazian, David Cale, Jessica Goldberg, Beth Henley, Lameece Issaq, Claire LaZebnik, Lisa Loomer, Michele Lowe, Marco Pennette, Theresa Rebeck, Luanne Rice, Annie Weisman, Cheryl L. West and Brooke Berman. Utterly unpredictable, Motherhood Out Loud shatters traditional notions about parenthood, unveils its inherent comedy and celebrates the deeply personal truths that span and unite generations. Variety called the show “Chicken Soup for the Mom,” while BackStage summed it up as “storytelling at its sweetest.”

The play will be directed by Harry Patrick Christian (Montclair), and will feature Nicole Callender (West Orange), Laura Ekstrand (Livingston), Scott McGowan (Maplewood) and Harriett Trangucci-photo right (Summit). The director and cast are all members of Dreamcatcher’s professional Resident Acting Company.

Motherhood Out Loud will run at Dreamcatcher from Thursday, April 24 through Sunday, May 11. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets range from $20-$35, with special rates for subscribers and groups.
