Just over a week ago, Nitefall on the River organizers added three more shows to their summer concert series. This week, they have added two more concert dates: Atmosphere on August 23 and the Honda Civic Tour on August 27.
Minneapolis hip hop act Atmosphere (featured video) will take the Simon Estes Amphitheater stage on Saturday, August 23. The group has topped the Indie chart and has had three albums land in the Billboard 200 Top 20. The band's May 6 release, Southsiders, has already climbed to #2 on the Indie chart #3 on the R&B chart, and #8 on the Billboard 200. Tickets for the Nitefall show are $25, and they will go on sale on Friday, June 13 at 10 a.m. The all ages concert will kick off at 7:30 p.m. with openers Prof, Dem Atlas, and DJ Fundo.
The Honda Civic Tour will roll into Des Moines on Wednesday, August 27 for their date at Nitefall on the River. The tour features L.A. indie alternative pop/rock band Grouplove and Portland-based progressive soul rock group Portugal the Man (stylized Portugal. The Man). After only two albums, Grouplove already has five Top 20 Alternative singles, including the #1 smash "Tongue Tied". Portugal the Man's last two albums have broke the Top 20 on the Rock and Alternative charts. Portland electronic band STRFKR will open the 7 p.m. all ages show. Tickets for this Nitefall show will also go on sale Friday morning at 10 a.m., and prices will be $30 in advance and $35 the day of the show.
