Nissan is a tease! The Japanese automaker has cloaked what appears to be a pickup that reportedly, won’t be revealed until June 11. The teaser appeared Monday on Twitter and all that is semi-visible of the silhouette are the truck’s LED running lights, grille, bumper, hood, silver air intakes and all styling cues appear streamlined and up-to-date.
The cloaked vehicle also sports a roof rack on top. The truck’s headlights are giving off a Pathfinder feel. The hood creases resemble those that are found on the latest and greatest Murano. The photo of the veiled vehicle has a caption that reads, “There's a special member of the #Nissan family on the way."
Nissan has not divulged anymore details about the “family member” but the rumor mill about it is alive and well. The company dropped a dime in the not-too-distant-past about face lifting, a-la-Joan Rivers, a couple in their truck lineup. The talk is that the tired Frontier and Titan, both of which are in dire need of an update, could be getting refreshed, after nearly a decade of nada. Reportedly, diesel and hybrid powertrains could make their way to the midsized Frontier, and a highly-anticipated Cummins-sourced 5.0-liter V8 turbo diesel mill could be an option for the larger Titan which according to the company, will be likely revealed at next year's Detroit show.
In the fall, the 2015 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon will hit showrooms and both midsizers are expected to be offered in diesel models the following year. So if the speculation is valid with regards to the veiled pickup being a Frontier, it will be coming ‘round the bend at a real opportune time.
