
The pre-Nissan Tokyo Electric Cars Company Tama EV.
Nissan has a rich history with the electric car that stretches back to its roots in the
1940s.
The gist is that Nissan has dabbled with the electric vehicle, EV for some time. In its first effort, before it was called Nissan, the 1947 Tama EV was created. Throughout the decades, the car company continued its research.
Tama To Leaf. The Tama EV was borne from a need to find an alternative means of energy and away from coal and petroleum from the hard it WWII Japan. The Tokyo Electric Cars Company, predating Prince Motor Co., Ltd., which later became Nissan worked out this interesting electric vehicle, EV. The Tama EV, some 60 years ago achieved an easy 22 mph with a range of 40 miles on its lead acid batteries. Next was the President EV in the late 1980s which also used lead acid batteries.

Then, there was the 1992 Prairie EV, the world's first lithium battery car.

As we can see, Nissan is playing the electric drive card by showing it has a rich history with it. And why not? As long as we get those Leafs out soon, the world is a better place.
