Nissan expanding LEAF availability to new states, nearing 7000 sold

Nissan today announced the all-electric LEAF would be available in new states and, oh by the way, they had sold nearly 7000 of the cars.  Take that GM.

This matches up with their announcement last July that for 2012 the LEAF will be more widely available, and have DC Fast Charge as standard equipment. (see For 2012 Nissan's LEAF to be more widely available and include fast charging)

Beginning today prospective LEAF owners can begin today in Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York.  By the end of the year Delaware, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island will be added.

"Consumers have spoken, and it's clear that they are looking for a car that produces zero emissions and uses no gas," said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America. "We are seeing tremendous consumer interest in the Nissan LEAF in these new markets, particularly in the New York metropolitan area."
