The Nissan 370z NISMO is an amazing vehicle that is purpose built for track style racing. The new rev-match technology by Nissan creates a driving experience that sets this car apart from other vehicles currently available. NISMO stands for "Nissan Motorsports" and it is clearly illustrated in the design and performance package. The suspension is very stiff, and the aerodynamics are very pronounced in a manner that suggests maximum performance. With 350 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque from the factory, the Nissan 370z NISMO is a performance beast waiting to be unleashed. It's not exactly the fastest car out there from the factory, but the unique features of this car make it ideal for aftermarket tuning.

The upgrades
Standard with a 6-speed manual transmission featuring "SynchroRev Match" creates a driving experience comparable to Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and other exotics for a fraction of the cost. Nissan really hit the nail on the head when they designed this vehicle with the performance enthusiast in mind. Nismo tuned suspension compliments the gearbox with sticky 19 inch RAYS forged wheels to assure traction in a wide variety of driving scenarios.
Beyond the suspension, expect the fully functional aerodynamic features to help stick the car to the road. Extended nose cone, integrated chin spoilers, side skirts, and functional rear spoiler create the down force needed for top speed fun. The package is completed with a unique serialized plaque of authenticity displaying your production number! Very cool!

The bang for buck
For only $39,130 MSRP the Nissan 370z NISMO is a complete performance package that was created with the aftermarket tuner in mind. The ability to modify this vehicle to astronomical power is readily available by using a twin turbo kit and ECU tuning. The variable valve timing and lift control when tuned can be a deadly combination with any forced induction setup. From the factory, it is tuned for gas mileage. However, unleashing the VVEL (variable valve event and lift) with some ECU tuning can really spice up the low end power and torque that is lost for the factory eco-tune. Take a look at the engine bay video below, and you can clearly see that this NISMO is setup for aftermarket modifications!

Made for aftermarket culture
By using the rev-match technology, one can effectively navigate corners with an automated heel-toe which blips the throttle to perfectly match any entry speed, reducing the overal corner time and shaving seconds off of the lap time. Outside of rev-match and VVEL, the stock 7,500 RPM red line is sure to grab enthusiasts abroad. Excellent job Nissan! The new Nissan 370z NISMO is a great statement of performance, prestige, and a perfect rendering of what the JDM enthusiasts want in a vehicle. I'm personally excited to see how the tuning world accepts the NISMO and what will be accomplished. With the stiff chassis and excellent tuned suspension from the factory, all that is left to be wanted is additional gut-wrenching performance.

My personal driving experience
I had a chance to drive this vehicle through the mountain roads of western San Jose, California during the Nissan Z media event. I must say that I was very impressed with the handling and curb appeal package that Nissan has delivered with the 370z NISMO. I feel that it could use some additional power for the price. This can easily be fixed by adding a twin turbo system, custom exhaust, free flowing intake, and some minor ECU tuning. It lacks the low end power needed for many corners, however this can be fixed with ECU tuning and adjustment of the VVEL. Additionally, the twin throttle body setup is perfect for twin turbo application, and the engine bay has ample room for mods that most shade tree mechanics can perform.
Zipping through the mountain roads, the Nissan 370z NISMO was as sturdy as a mountain goat. It's the type of vehicle that you can push to your limit before the car even suggests a slip. Regardless of turn cambers, the Z gracefully handled event the most steep corners at high speeds with the agility you would expect from a rally champion. By using the traction control system, this vehicle has a launch that is comparable with AWD competition. On the interstate, the vehicle is very responsive and has a nice top gear pull. The rev-match technology takes some time to get used to, but once mastered it is a very pleasurable experience that can shave seconds off your lap time. Overall, I must commend Nissan on what they've done with the Z car for the latest release of the NISMO and roadster versions. Great job Nissan!
