Yesterday, video game and anime publisher, NIS America, announced that its upcoming turn-based RPG, “Fairy Fencer F” would be available in North America for the PlayStation 3, in digital and physical form, this September.
“Fairy Fencer F” takes place in a world where a massive war was fought between the Goddess and the Vile God, who because they were equally matched, created a vast number of special weapons, known as Furies, each containing the life force of a fairy. Eventually, both gods sealed each other away and their weapons were scatted across the world. The game follows Fang, a young man who inadvertently becomes a Fencer, the term for warriors who wield Furies, when he pulls a Fury from a stone. Fang’s life will never again be the same.
Developed by Compile Heart, what makes “Fairy Fencer F” a big draw for me is the team behind the game. It features character art by Tsunako, who worked on the “Hyperdimension Neptunia” series, and two legends known for their work with the “Final Fantasy” series of games from Square Enix, Yoshitaka Amano, who provides concept art, and music from Nobuo Uematsu.
The game also features a robust combat system, which is being called the next evolution of the “Hyperdimension Neptunia” battle engine. Players will also be able to use the Furies they collect to give characters powerful abilities, or even customize dungeons to your exact specifications.
NIS America will release “Fairy Fencer F” in digital and physical form for the PlayStation 3 in North America on September 23, 2014. The European release will follow on September 26, 2014.
