Nippers Beach Grille of Jacksonville Florida will hold its official Grand Opening Party as a gala fundraiser for the Hook the Future Foundation (HTF), a local organization that helps children learn life lessons through the sport of fishing. "From Surf to Turf, An Evening with Chef Kenny and Friends," will be the culinary event of the year with local and national celebrity chefs. The gala will be held on Wednesday, July 27 from 7:00 PM-10:00 PM at Nippers Beach Grille on the Intracoastal waterway at Beach Marine in Jacksonville Beach.
The event will feature six local and national celebrity chefs, all friends of Nippers' Executive Chef and alumnus of the hit Bravo Network series, Top Chef,Kenny Gilbert. All other chefs will be staffing their own separate food stations to be located throughout the island-themed restaurant. Each of the celebrity chefs will prepare one of their own signature dishes or a dish from the Nipper's menu. Included so far on the roster of Kenny's friends are: Top Chef Alumni, Arnold Myint; Erika Davis of Top Chef Just Desserts season one; Executive Chef of “One Ocean”, Ted Peters; Tom Gray, owner and Executive Chef of Jacksonville's Bistro Aix; David Medure, executive chef at Restaurant Medure of Ponte Vedra Beach; and of course, Kenny Gilbert.
The day actually begins with children supported by HTF being treated to a day of deep-sea fishing. They'll return in the early afternoon where they will unload their catch of the day. Chef Kenny and his friends will then use the fish caught by the HTF kids to create some of the evening's dishes. And before the event officially starts, the evening will be kicked off at 6:30 PM with Jacksonville Beach Mayor, Fland Sharp, hosting the ribbon cutting on the red carpet.
This special evening will be hosted by guest-MC, Nikki Kimbleton of WJXT-TV4, who will also present the live auction. A sample of the auction items includes:
- A private evening of great food with Chef Kenny Gilbert at one's home for eight guests
- A guided fishing trip aboard The Lil' Nipper with Hook the Future's Captain Don
- A trip for four to the Bahamas, including air & lodging from Craig Air Center
- A two-day golf & stay excursion to White Oak Plantation (including an overnight stay in their private lodge)
Tickets for the event are $100 per person includes: “all you can eat and drink”, live music by the 418 Calypso Band, access to the live and silent auctions and a host of other surprises.
