Good news for fans of classic video games. SEGA has released eight re-mastered titles to Nintendo, and Nintendo will be releasing those games just in time for Christmas.
Starting at the end of November, Nintendo will be releasing 3D adaptations of Space Harrier, Super Hang-on, Sonic The Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Ecco the Dolphin, Galaxy Force II, Shinobi III, and Streets of Rage.
SEGA originally released these arcade games between the late 80’s and the early 90’s, and can be considered arcade royalty.
The re-release of these games will offer a great stocking stuffer this Christmas season, as they are being released on Nintendo 3DS. It will introduce a new generation to these classics from their origins, and allow them to fall in love with the characters as previous generations have.
SEGA President and COO, John Cheng, commented on the 3D release of these classics, “These games were completely re-built to offer a robust 3D experience that offers more modern gameplay while still keeping true to the original…We look forward to bringing these classic SEGA titles to Nintendo 3DS for fans – both old and new.”
The retro collection will be released on the following dates in 2013:
November 28th: 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-On
December 5th: 3D Sonic The Hedgehog and 3D Altered Beast
December 12th: 3D Ecco the Dolphin and 3D Galaxy Force II
December 19th: 3D Shinobi III and 3d Streets of Rage
These titles will be available on Nintendo 3DS at $5.99 a piece via Nintendo’s 3DS eShop.
