Not all is well in the land of Nintendo these days as they have reported a 23.2 billion yen net income loss on their most recent financial report; this translates as a $229 million loss. Nintendo has definitely overestimated how much the Wii U would sell; they originally projected $9 billion worth of revenue last year. As of now, worldwide sales are at $5.6 billion. The total loss for Nintendo within the past 3 years is a staggering $1.18 billion. Due to their grandiose predictions, Nintendo has been much more cautious in their financial forecasts. Now they're predicting that they'll sell only 3.6 million Wii U's in this upcoming near.

Let's not forget that the 3DS sales were fairly poor when it was released. It was only through the release of great software titles that sales started piling up. Nintendo is banking on crucial titles such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros Wii U to sell extra Wii U this year. It would help if they announced a brand new Zelda title at this year's E3 as well.
