Pokemon.com has announced that a Pikachu-themed Nintendo 3DS XL will be available in participating retailers soon. This announcement came on March 14, 2013, and the system itself will release on March 24, 2013. As an additional note, this system will be releasing on the same day as “Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity,” which is a Nintendo 3DS exclusive title. There is no word on whether or not there will be a regular sized Pikachu-themed Nintendo 3DS.
The system itself is a bright yellow color, the same as the famous Pokemon, Pikachu. The front (or back depending on the player’s perspective) of the top screen has an outline of Pikachu on it. The bar that the top screen flips around will be white in color. All functions of a normal Nintendo 3DS XL will be available in this system.
The system will come packaged with a 4GB SD card for saving data on. It will be available at participating Wal-Mart, Toys R’ Us, Target, and GameStop stores. The MSRP on the item will be $199.99, which means it will be the same price as purchasing a new, regular Nintendo 3DS XL. As this is a limited edition, each store’s stock will likely empty quickly, so gamers wishing to purchase it must act quickly.
